Well, it seems life always alters my plans. LOL. I have been very busy with my children and hubby. Indoor soccer has come to a close just in time for Spring Soccer sign-ups. Hubby is coaching 2 U10 teams, consulting for a U11 team and coaching the 4-5 year olds team at the YMCA. Whew! In the midst of this, we are still remodeling our home. So there is my update.

As for cakes, I recently completed a smaller 2-tier birthday cake. The mom's instructions were: Barbie Pink and Teal Blue. Oh and funfetti flavor. No problem. Until the rain moved in. It rained all night and all day. As some of you know and maybe most of you do not, humidity wreaks havoc with icing. Any icing. So, I had the side of the bottom tier all piped with big loopy flowers and by the time I was done with the last flower, the first flower was sagging down to the table. :(

Very frustrating to have a deadline and about an hour to scrape off the whole side of a cake to redo. Well. I learn something with each and every cake. Turns out I adjusted my design, finished on time and the mom was happy.

Oh, I also have an update about the wedding cakes on the books. The valentine's wedding has been postponed. An April 1st wedding has been added. And yes, it is coming up quickly. The May wedding mini cakes order has been cancelled due to distance (10+ hour drive).

So I hope I have not bored you to tears. Happy baking everyone!

Well, it is another day done. I am in the process of helping 3 brides develop their wedding cake order. So far, a Valentine's wedding without pink or red; a May wedding with individual cakes and a September wedding, cake undecided. :)

I am very excited as 2 are friends and one is soon to be an in-law.

Just a heads up. I should be posting more pix soon. I am also planning my schedule to allow me to complete two more decorating courses before spring. Keep your fingers crossed and say a prayer! lol.

Here are some of my cakes.
The green and white was for four girls who graduated HS. The green fish was for a birthday. The brown and pink with the tiara was for a first birthday. The block cakes were for a baby shower and the many tiered cake was a diva graduation. Many hours and different techniques were used. Enjoy!

Happy New Year everyone!

Sorry for my absence these last months. My hubby has had a painfilled 12 months after an injury, misdiagnosis and finally a correct diagnosis with a specialist then surgery. He is better now and the walking boot comes off this week. :0)

Christmas was eventful. Both good times and sad. My family mourns the loss of dear grandma Georgia. She was 95. She made the most perfect and tasty noodles and exquisite pies.

I have made a resolution to be better about making regular posts and projects. I invite you to comment and share your projects with me.

I would like to invite you to check out The Pink Slipper Project. This is a very worthy cause.

Helping Rachel

This cake was for Rachel Fischer's sister's 16th bday. It is not complete in the pic b/c I needed to be somewhere. I did help Rachel as much as I could. MANY hours went into this cake.

Here is the fab new car! Interestingly enough, this is Andy's car. He traded in his beloved '98 Dodge Ram 1500 crewcab shortbed with sport package for a fuel efficient 2009 PT Cruiser. It was time. The truck had a couple fender bender "bruises" many many miles and low gas mileage. Plus, he felt dependability was soon to be an issue.
*we drove the cruiser to muncie = 27.4 mpg.

Apology

Hello. I must first say I am sorry to have been gone so long. Writing down events in my life is therapeutic and I should do it more often.

So, here is the news.

First, my family and I are all doing ok. We have started to attend Cadiz Christian Church again as a family.

Second, we bought a new car. The C.A.R.S. program enabled us to buy a brand new car much cheaper than a comparable used one. We picked a PT Cruiser - inferno crystal red.

Third, we finished the installation of new ceramic tile flooring in the kitchen. I am well on my way to having a wonderful gourmet inspired space.

The boys are growing so fast. Jonathan will be starting the 4th grade next week and Topher will be in 5 morning per week K-4 preschool. I am already planning my workout time!

I have also signed on to be an Usborne Books & More consultant to try to earn extra income. The books are great. Those of you who know me, know that I hoard books. I have shelves, boxes and stacks of them. :) I believe reading is instrumental in the developmental and learning process. So, my boys receive books for almost every special occassion or holiday.

I pledge to try to blog at least once a week but hopefully more often. Thanks for stopping by.
